Transforming lives through homeownership

Khaya Lam, which means ‘my home’, is a land reform project that was founded by the Free Market Foundation to put homeownership within reach of the almost 20 million South Africans who live without this security.

Since 2013, the BetterHome Group has contributed over R2 million to this significant initiative, helping more than 770 South Africans secure title deeds for their homes – homes they have lived in for decades, as tenants, but have never been able to call their own.

Creating safe homes for vulnerable children

For over 40 years, CMR Gauteng-East has been providing compassionate care and giving hope to families and children who have suffered the trauma of abuse and neglect.

The organisation is focused on keeping families together, protecting children from harm (this includes placing them in safe, alternative care with foster or adoptive parents and implementing Children’s Court procedures), providing aftercare services and support programmes to the families it cares for, and alleviating poverty in communities.

By supporting the valuable work that CMR does, the BetterLife Foundation is committed to protecting the most vulnerable children in our society and to ensuring a better future for the next generation.
